Fire Razes INEC Office In Idemili South LGA, Anambra.

In a press statement signed on Wednesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), National Commissioner &Chairman, Festus Okoye Esq. it disclosed of the fire attack on Idemili South LGA Office in Anambra State.

Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, the Resident Electoral  Commissioner (REC) of Anambra State, made the report known, that the commission was set ablaze by unknown gunmen on Wednesday morning, destructing furniture and other sensitive materials, including “729 ballot boxes, 243 voting cubicles and 256 election bags.”

However, uncollected PVCs were not affected by the inferno because it was kept in a fireproof cabinet.

INEC while assuring the people of Idemili LGA stated that, “contingency arrangements will be made to replace the material” and the presidential and National Assembly election will still proceed as scheduled.
