RCD Mallocra came into the game in fine form, winning two and drawing two of their opening six Laliga matches, including a draw against Real Madrid on the opening day of the season. Jagoba Arraste decided to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation giving the team a flexible setting, defending and attacking as a unit.
Real Betis hasn’t had a pleasant start to the season by their standards getting only eight points from a possible 15. The club wasn’t settled at the start of the season because the transfer window was on and there were a lot of incomings and outgoings.
However, coming into the game against Mallocra there was stability in the squad as they won their last two matches. It took Real Betis seven minutes only seven minutes to get the lead through summer signing Giovani Lo Celso but the lead didn’t last as Dani Rodriguez drew Mallocra level seconds later.
The 2nd half had great intensity and both goalkeepers were called to action making great saves, the match was looking like a draw until Valery Fernandez snatched the win for Mallocra in the 3rd minute of stoppage time. The win took Mallocra to 11 points and 5th in Laliga.
It was Mallocra first win against Real Betis in nine attempts ending their worst winless streak in top flight history.
