Chris Wood’s crucial goal secured a 1-0 victory for Nottingham Forest over Crystal Palace. Nottingham Forest dominated the first half, with their first major opportunity arising in the 17th minute when Wood’s header went over the bar.
Another chance came when Elanga’s cross was cleared by Chalobah, but Yates headed the loose ball wide. Right before half-time, Wood missed a clear chance from Anderson’s low cross, mishandling it directly to Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.
Although Crystal Palace created more opportunities in the second half, it was Nottingham Forest who found the breakthrough in the 61st minute. A knock-down reached Wood, who struck from about 25 yards out. Henderson managed to get a hand to the low shot, but it slipped into the bottom-left corner. Crystal Palace nearly equalized nine minutes from time, but Sels denied their close-range effort.
The 1-0 result lifted Nottingham Forest to eighth place in the Premier League, while Crystal Palace dropped into the relegation zone with just three points and five defeats. Coach Oliver Glasner acknowledged the difficulties, stating, “At the moment [we] don’t score goals and we have to be honest. No goal today, no goal v Liverpool, no goal v United, and if you play like this it is difficult to win.”
