The Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command SP Bright Edafe in a video warns POS (Point of Sale) operators to be careful of criminals and kidnappers who uses their account for criminal and unscrupulous activities.
“Whenever you are as a POS operator you are receiving money that is unreasonably high, understand that there is an element of crime in it, because they are supposed to go to the bank.”
SP Edafe in the video while interviewing an operator who fell victim of such scheme stressed that once a customer exceed a particular amount of money that should be transacted in the bank, then the operator shouldn’t comply to do such.
The unidentified operator’s customer had transferred four million naira into her account and gave her other account number to disburse the money, which the PRO confirmed it was a ransom money kidnappers had collected from someone.
In his words: “My message to POS operators, transaction above 500k can get you into trouble. Don’t be a tool for kidnappers to collect ransom. It must be traced to you.
“She received #4,000,000 ransom from kidnappers and her profit was just #40,000. Can you imagine?
“Be wise, you may argue that you are doing business, but before your lawyer will get you out, you may spend sometime cooling off in prison.” He warned
