Former Moroccan International Abdelaziz Barrada Dies At 35.

Former Moroccan international Abdelaziz Barrada, known for his stints with Getafe, Marseille, and Al Jazira, has tragically passed away at the age of 35 following a heart attack.
Barrada’s career began in the youth ranks of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before moving to Spain, where he joined Getafe in 2011. During his time at the La Liga club, he made 66 appearances and scored four goals.
Following his two seasons in Spain, he moved to Marseille, where he played between 2014 and 2016, making 33 appearances and netting twice. His most prolific spell came with Al Jazira in the UAE, where he scored 10 goals in 22 matches.
Representing Morocco, Barrada earned 26 caps and scored four goals, participating in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. His last appearance for the national team was in 2015.
Tributes poured in from former clubs and the football community. Getafe CF expressed deep sorrow, posting on X, “Getafe CF is deeply saddened by the passing of former Azulón Abdel Barrada. The footballer played 66 games and scored 4 goals for Getafe in the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons. Our thoughts and support are with his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in Peace.”
Marseille shared a heartfelt message, calling his passing a “sad incident,” stating, “Olympique de Marseille has learned with sadness of the passing of its former player and Moroccan international, Abdelaziz Barrada. The club extends its sincerest condolences to his family and shares the grief of his loved ones.”
PSG also paid homage, noting the player’s roots in their academy, writing, “Paris Saint-Germain is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Abdelaziz Barrada, Moroccan international and a product of the Club’s academy. The Club extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Al-Jazira Club expressed condolences in a statement: “The Al-Jazira Club family extends its sincerest condolences and sympathy to the family of the late Abdelaziz Barrada, former Al-Jazira player. May Allah have mercy on him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation, through its President Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, also honored Barrada’s memory, calling his death a great loss: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Abdelaziz Barrada and to the national football family. May Allah have mercy on him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”

Barrada’s contributions to club and country will be remembered fondly. His passing is a significant loss for Moroccan and international football alike.
