Streets foods and snacks are easily gotten as and when needed, due to many people’s nature of job, packing home-made food and snacks to work can be time consuming, especially in places like Lagos and its environs, as individuals have to wake up on time to meet up with work resumption in order to avoid getting stuck in unpredictable traffic or unforeseen occurrences.
Thereby making a lot of people resign to street feeding, especially if you can’t afford good restaurants meals.
Deep-fried snacks, grilled meats and some tradition dishes in Nigeria are immensely fashionable, these foods save time as it can be gotten in any part of the neighborhood, however, there are unforeseen toxins that are encapsulated in the processing that are unknown to the consumers and could cause a lot of damages to the human health due to ignorance. Below are some of them

BUNS, PUFF-PUFF, AKARA (BEAN CAKE) AND PLANTAIN CHIPS: As delicious as they taste, they are prepared in unhealthy oils that contains “trans-fat”. Trans fat is also called “trans unsaturated fatty acids or trans fatty acids; it is known to increase bad cholesterol in the human body thereby leading to increased risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. These foods also contain calories which can lead to obesity.

KILISHI AND SUYA
Kilishi and Suya are spicy grilled meat that are undeniably tasty and enticing yet does a lot of harm to the body. These tasty delights can contribute to High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) due to the haute seasoning added to it during processing, also the high temperature of the grilling process can lead to carcinogenic compounds that increases the risk of cancer.

NKWOBI
Nkobi is a Nigerian traditional delicacy prepared in a spicy palm oil sauce with cow feet, however it is also a dangerous as it contains high potassium. High potassium can lead to irregular heartbeat and even heart failure, also consumption of Nkwobi to individuals with kidney problems is highly dangerous to their health.
