Robert Lewandowski’s brilliance secured maximum points for Barcelona against Alaves. Manager Hansi Flick opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation, starting Inaki Pena in goal despite fan calls for the new goalkeeper.
Lewandowski opened the scoring in just seven minutes, assisted by Raphinha. The duo combined again in the 22nd minute, doubling Barcelona’s lead. Lewandowski completed his hat-trick ten minutes later, this time assisted by Eric Garcia.
The second half remained goalless, but Barcelona dominated play, welcoming back Frenkie De Jong to La Liga action after a lengthy injury layoff.
Post-match, Hansi Flick praised his players: “I think we should praise everyone in the group. They’re all helping him. He’s in good form, and I’m happy to see that. I’m happy for the three points and happy with Lewy’s performance.”
Flick also showed sportsmanship, wishing Real Madrid’s Vice Captain Dani Carvajal a speedy recovery: “I want to wish Dani Carvajal all the best. His injury looked very serious, and he was in very good form. From Barcelona, we wish him all the best.”
Barcelona now lead La Liga with 24 points and 28 goals scored, three points clear of rivals Real Madrid.
