NPF URGE ‘POLITICIANS’ AGAINST THREATENING CITIZENS WITH IGP’S OFFICE

The Nigeria Police Force has appealed to ‘selected members’ of the public and politicians to stop threatening fellow citizens with the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
A viral video surfaced on the internet of a Bolt driver whom had gone to a House of Representative member’s house for delivery but was harassed for not coming to pick up his order from the car.
Hon. Alexander Ikwegh had claimed the Bolt Driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya was stupid for not delivery the ‘snail’ personally inside his house and had called his plug to report the supposed slight.
In his speech, the Hon. who was being recorded by Abuwatseya had stated: “Call the IGP…I can make you disappear from Nigeria and nothing will happen” “I am a Senator of the Federal Republic” he threatened.
However the NPF in a statement released on X warned members of the public to stop abusing the office of the IGP, disclosing that they are looking into the matter.
“The Nigeria Police Force is aware of the incident between a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya, and Hon. Alexander Ikwegh, which took place on October 27, 2024, in Maitama, Abuja.
“The FCT Command is actively handling the case following Mr. Abuwatseya’s official report at the Maitama Divisional Headquarters.
“The Police Force also urges the public to refrain from using the name or office of the Inspector-General of Police to intimidate others, as such actions undermine the values of impartiality that the IGP’s office upholds.”
The Bolt driver in the video had reported that the Honourable after shredding his cloth slapped him thrice just because he demanded for payment of the services render, that Ikwegh boldly stated he will not a pay dime.
