Poland defeated Zambia 2-0, knocking the African side out of the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup. Two early goals in each half secured the three points for the European debutants. Goals from Kinga Wyrwas and Weronika Arasniewicz made the difference.
Despite Zambia’s efforts to get back into the game, they couldn’t beat Poland’s goalkeeper Julia Woźniak, who stood firm and stopped everything thrown her way. Zuzana Witek was awarded Player of the Match for her outstanding performance in midfield, where she was instrumental in distributing passes and making crucial interceptions.
Poland now tops the group with 4 points, level with Japan but leading on goal difference. Brazil sits third with 3 points, while Zambia remains at the bottom with zero points and has already been eliminated from the tournament.
Poland will face Brazil in the final group game, a match that could decide the fate of both teams. Meanwhile, Japan takes on Zambia, and the Junior She-polopolo will aim to give their supporters something to cheer about with a win.
