21-YEAR-OLD ALLEGEDLY SHOT AND LEFT IN A DITCH BY NIGERIA POLICE AFTER DEMANDING FOR 200K

A social media user has reported the unpleasantness of the Nigeria police experience the family had after his 21 years old brother was shot and left to die in a ditch in Abuja.
The unidentified user had in a post reported: “ 9th of November at about 6:40p.m in the evening, the Nigeria Police at the FO1 Kubwa Sokale checkpoint Abuja.
“5 in numbers and armed, surrounded and tried to extort my 21 year old brother the sum of 200,000 for an alleged (yahoo crime as they called it), that he didn’t commit and shot at the boy when he took off after sensing he was in danger.
“They shot at him and left him for dead in a ditch and dispersed when they thought he had died.
Thank God the bullet missed him but he was left with a completely broken leg and bleeding. Now he is at the hospital fighting for his life. ”
The user had insinuated that when the family tried to file a report at the station which has proved abortive, rather they were told: “thank God he is alive.”
Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan corroborated the story in a video on his Facebook page on Sunday, showing the young man lying in the hospital.
“21 years old boy shot by the police yesterday in Kubwa, Abuja because they requested 200k and he didn’t have to give them,” VeryDarkMan posted along with the video of the incident.
“Are we going to be running away from thieves, armed robbers and kidnappers, and still be running away from Nigeria Police that are supposed to be protecting us?
“This thing is getting crazier by the day. Just look at this young boy on my screen that was allegedly shot yesterday. This boy said they met him and next thing, they were asking him to bring N200, 000.”
VeryDarkMan further called on the Force Police Public Relations Officer, and FCT police Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, to do a deep investigation on the matter.
@Drweloveu had likened the case to a certain one that happen in Lagos some months back where they victim was chased into a canal and pointed out that the Police is not getting cleaned up as Nigerians hoped. And wonder the difference between the security unit and kidnappers.
“It’s not getting better, it’s getting worse. This is the country fighting against fraud. They shõt him and destroyed his leg.
“Firstly, they accused him of being a Yahoo boy. Then, they demanded for N200k to set himself free. 200k for bribery to bail himself out or a crime he didn’t commit. I wake up every morning and go to work wondering if I’m next.
“There are many cases like this you haven’t heard of. Young boys, gone. For what? Immediately, they shõt him, they left him to d!£ in a ditch and ran off just like the guy in the first frame. What are the differences between a kidnapper and a Nigerian police?
“Almost bled to de£th in that ditch and even after surviving, he might not walk with that leg again.” He submitted.
The netizen went further to query the corruption of the Police Unit compare to other Security personnel in the country: “How do they keep putting gūns in the hands of criminals? Why always the police. Police isn’t the only force in Nigeria legalised with guns, the army & military are there. We’ve never really called them out for incidents such as this. How are they trained? It’s really sad. How did we get here? This is NOT freedom.” He concluded.
