Fernandes Marks 250th Manchester United Appearance with Goal in 3-0 Leicester Win

Manchester United secured a commanding victory over Leicester City, wrapping up Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim managerial stint on a high note.

Before kickoff, club captain Bruno Fernandes was honoured for reaching 250 appearances with United, and he celebrated the milestone with an impactful performance. Fernandes opened the scoring in the 17th minute, converting an assist from Amad Diallo.

The Portuguese playmaker was instrumental in the second goal as well, with his header deflecting off Victor Kristiansen to double United’s lead. Alejandro Garnacho then put the game out of reach, coming off the bench to net United’s third with a spectacular 20-yard strike into the top corner, courtesy of another Fernandes assist.

This latest contribution marked Fernandes’ sixth goal involvement in the last four matches, showcasing his recent influence on United’s attacking output.

After the match, Fernandes praised van Nistelrooy for his contributions during the interim period, stating, “We wanted to give him a proper send-off because he has done a lot of good things for us.” Reflecting on his own form and the team’s progress, he added, “It had been a while since I last scored, and now the goals are coming. Keeping a clean sheet was crucial to rebuilding our strength at home. We need to keep working on this and continue improving.”

Fernandes also acknowledged the team’s potential, adding, “We have a lot of talented players, but it’s important to stay level-headed, regardless of the results.”

This win marks United’s third in their last four outings in all competitions since Eric ten Hag’s departure. Prior to his exit, they had only managed three wins across their previous matches.
