Ghana Loose to Niger; Ghana’s AFCON 2025 Qualifiers A Disaster One.

Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign ended in disappointment following a 2-1 defeat to Niger. With both teams’ fates already sealed before kickoff, the match was merely a battle for pride.

Niger took the lead in the 22nd minute when Ousseini Badamassi struck to put Le Mena ahead. Ghana pushed to get back into the game, and their persistence paid off in the 67th minute, as 20-year-old Ghanian talent Jeremia Afriyie leveled the score for the Black Stars. However, Niger regained their advantage in the 92nd minute through Oumar Sako. Ghana had one last opportunity to equalize deep into stoppage time, but Mohammed Kudus’ attempt in the 96th minute was saved by Mahamadou Tanja. Surprisingly, some Ghanaian fans celebrated Kudus’ miss.

Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualification campaign ended in humiliation, with three losses and just three points from six matches.

During the post-match press conference, a Ghanaian journalist confronted head coach Otto Addo, bluntly stating that his strengths lie more in scouting than in coaching.
