Following the alleged murder of Pinnock Estate Security person by three dogs, the Lagos State Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin has confirmed the arrest the dogs and its owner.
Late Tuesday, there had been a footage showcasing dogs sniffing a dead man on the floor, stating that “A resident in Pinnock Estate reportedly didn’t lock his dogs inside his apartment properly, the dogs escaped and k!II the Estate Security.”
SP Hundeyin revealed in a post on Wednesday stating: “the Lagos State Police Command has arrested the owner of the dogs, Salisu Mustapha and confiscated the dogs pending the outcome of discreet investigations that have since commenced.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olanrewaju Ishola assures residents of the estate and the entire people of Lagos State that the ongoing investigations will be brought to a conclusive end and justice will be served as appropriate.” The PRO added.
He went further to answer questions and posted video of the dogs in police protective custody to reassure concerned citizens that unfounded justice had not being meted yet.
“It was a fight to get the dogs out as people around were bent on killing them. They are getting the best treatment. We do not condone cruelty to animals. These were the dogs after they arrived at the Command headquarters before our K-9 unit came to take them into better custody.”
The mauling of the security man by the dogs happened at Pinnock Estate, Ilasan, Lekki on 5th November, however some of the social media users opined that the dog couldn’t have gone that mile stating.
@Arojinle1 had posted: “If you truly know the slightest about dogs, you’ll know that THEY DIDN’T KILL THE MAN!
“If they did, his clothes would be so torn and he would be covered in blood. Their mouth would have blood too. Those dogs are just there to investigate as they’re curious. You can see one of them in the gutter.
“They’re sniffing the man and his environment to analyze scent cues. Finally, the man may even be dead. He might have fainted or might be sleeping hard after being drunk to stupor. Until we have the official statement after investigation is carried out, we won’t know what actually happened. One thing that’s certain, is that the dogs DIDN’T kill the man.” He concluded.
“Are you sure @arojinle1? Well, I do not want to post gory pictures of the bloodied bite marks and tears on the victim’s body from head to toe. In any case, investigation is ongoing.” SP Hundeyin had replied
