Tunde Onakoya, the chess player and coach is at it again, putting Nigeria on the map at Lithuania where he wins 10 players in a chess match.
The Chess Samurai took on 10 players at once and came out on top with a final score of 8-2 in a match that lasted three hours at the Build Stuff conference in Vilnius.
He had on his post on X mentioned that playing in a simultaneous exhibition pushed him to his limits after playing with 10 brilliant minds.
“This one really pushed me to my limits as there were some really strong masters in the mix. Lagos to Lithuania. It is possible to do great things from a small place.”
The 30 year-old had credited his wins not just to himself but his country as a whole when he reported the scores:
“Final score 8-2
“We won.” Attaching a flag of Nigeria to it.
Onakoya the founder of Chess in Slums Africa, on 20 April 2024, broke the world chess marathon record in New York, United States. He played for over 60 consecutive hours.
He began the marathon session in Times Square in New York on Wednesday. He hit 58 hours in the early hours of Saturday, beating the current chess marathon record of 56 hours, 9 minutes and 37 seconds, which was achieved in 2018 by Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, both from Norway
