Aston Villa Pile Misery on Pep Guardiola with 2-1 win as Manchester City’s Crisis Deepens

Pau Torres nearly gave Manchester City the lead in the 2nd minute with a powerful header, but Stefano Ortega produced a brilliant save to deny him.

John Duran opened the scoring for Aston Villa in the 16th minute, marking his fourth goal in the last four games for the club.

Manchester City’s only clear chance of the first half came in the 35th minute when Phil Foden’s shot forced Emiliano Martínez into a fine save.

The second half lacked intensity until the 65th minute, when Morgan Rogers scored against his former club. A precise pass from John McGinn found Rogers, who shrugged off Mateo Kovačić before slotting the ball past Ortega.

Foden halved the deficit in the 93rd minute, making the scoreline more respectable for the Cityzens. It was his first Premier League goal of the season.

Manchester City now sit 6th in the Premier League, marking the first time in Pep Guardiola’s career that his team has fallen out of the top four at this stage of the season.
