Atalanta got a big 2-0 victory over AS Roma, thanks to second-half goals from Marten de Roon and Nicolo Zaniolo. The Bergamo side struggled to gain control of the game, with their best chance in the first half coming from Ademola Lookman, whose goal was disallowed for offside.
The match came to life in the 69th minute, when Captain Marten de Roon gave Atalanta the lead with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactical substitution proved to be the turning point, as Nicolo Zaniolo sealed all three points for Atalanta.
The result means that Atalanta is now just one point behind league leaders Napoli. The Bergamo side has been in great form, winning eight matches in a row in all competitions.
However, AS Roma finds itself in 15th place in the Serie A table, with just 13 points from 14 matches. Claudio Ranieri, who was appointed as Roma’s boss just a few weeks ago, is under great pressure, having failed to get a win in his first three games in charge of Roma.
