Manchester United lose against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford for the first time in 30 years.

Ruben Amorim lost at Old Trafford for the first time as Manchester United’s manager. Nottingham Forest took the lead within the space of two minutes through Elliot Anderson’s corner, which was headed in by Nikola Milenković. 16 minutes later, Rasmus Højlund drew Manchester United level, taking his goal tally to four goals under Rúben Amorim. Milenković was close to getting on the score sheet for the 2nd time, but his 27th-minute header hit the woodwork. Manchester United also hit the woodwork at the verge of half-time, after Captain Bruno Fernandes’ free kick struck the post

Two quick 2nd-half goals saw Manchester United fall behind with a difficult mountain to climb. Morgan Gibbs-White’s 47th-minute goal put Nottingham Forest ahead for the 2nd time in the game. Seven minutes later, Nottingham Forest doubled their advantage through Chris Wood’s 54th-minute goal. The goal made him the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League, with 25 goals.

Bruno Fernandes pulled one back for Manchester United in the 61st minute, after a nice one-two pass between him and Amad Diallo. Manchester United had two late chances to take the lead from Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez. Diallo, from the right wing, drifted into the box and hit the ball, but unfortunately, his shot was blocked by the Nottingham Forest defense. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez shot the ball stylishly in the box after a Marcus Rashford corner.

The result took Nottingham Forest to 5th in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Manchester United languishes in the bottom half of the table with its lowest points tally in a league season after 15 games since 1986. The win was Nottingham Forest’s first victory at Old Trafford in 30 years. It also meant Nuno Espírito Santo was the first Nottingham Forest manager since 1909 to win his first two league assignments against Manchester United.
