MARCUS RASHFORD INTERVIEW TWO DAYS AFTER HE WAS DROPPED FROM THE MANCHESTER DERBY. PLAYER SAYS HE IS READY FOR A NEW CHALLENGE

Marcus Rashford has stated he is ready for a new challenge during an interview with football writer Henry Winter, conducted two days after he was dropped for the Manchester derby.

“For me, personally, I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford said.

“When I leave, it’s going to be no hard feelings. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Man United.

“That’s me. I will always be a Red.”

He also admitted it was disappointing to be left out of the Manchester derby. “It’s disheartening to be left out of the derby, but it’s happened. We won the game, so let’s move on. It’s disappointing, but I’m also someone who, as I’ve gotten older, can deal with setbacks.

“What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it? Or do my best the next time I’m available?”

Furthermore Rashford spoke about the criticism he receives about his professionalism. “I do feel misunderstood, but I’m fine with it.

“I’m a very simple person. I love football. That’s been my life from the beginning.”

He also spoke about his career so far. “I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect my peak to be now.

“The best is yet to come? 100%. That’s my mentality.”

When asked about Rashford’s comments, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim did not express any disappointment. Instead, he supported Rashford’s desire for a new challenge, talking about the ongoing rebuilding process at the club.

“He is right! We have here a new challenge – the biggest in football.

“We are in a difficult situation. I hope all my players are ready.”

Amorim spoke about the importance of Rashford to the team and his commitment to helping the England international achieve his best.

“Manchester United need big talent, and he’s a big talent, so he just needs to perform at the highest level. That’s my focus.

“I just want to help Marcus. We are better with Marcus.

“I will try different things to push Marcus to the best levels he has shown in the past.”
