Rodrigo Muniz’s Late Winner Gives Fulham First Premier League Win at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s impressive run of games came to an end as Fulham secured their first Premier League win at Stamford Bridge since 1979. Chelsea led for 81 minutes, thanks to Cole Palmer’s lone 16th-minute strike.

However, the visitors never stopped believing, and their efforts paid off with two late goals that halted Chelsea’s title aspirations. Fulham drew level when Timothy Castagne’s perfect square pass allowed Harry Wilson to tap the ball home.

There was still time for one more action, as Fulham snatched all three points thanks to Rodrigo Muniz. Sasa Lukić’s precise cross into the box enabled the Brazilian to finish calmly.

Although Cole Palmer’s goal couldn’t secure a point for Chelsea, he can take pride in matching Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s 23-year record for most goals in a calendar year (26). This marked the first time Fulham secured maximum points at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was criticized by the Chelsea faithful for not utilizing his bench, having made only one substitution throughout the 90 minutes. Chelsea are 7 points behind the league leaders Liverpool. The Blues face Ipswich in their last game of 2024.
