Samuel Chukwueze inspired AC Milan to a commanding 6-1 victory over Sassuolo in their Coppa Italia Round of 16 clash, marking his 50th appearance for the club in style.
AC Milan dominated the first half, netting four goals. Chukwueze opened the scoring in the 12th minute and doubled his tally in the 21st minute. Rafael Leão and Tijjani Reijnders also found the back of the net, completing a sensational first-half performance. The hosts controlled the game, boasting an expected goals (xG) ratio of 1.45 compared to Sassuolo’s 0.08.
Three more goals followed in the second half. Davide Calabria struck first in the 56th minute to make it 5-0. Sassuolo managed a consolation goal three minutes later through Samuele Mulattieri. However, summer loan signing Tammy Abraham restored Milan’s five-goal lead in the 62nd minute, finishing off an assist from substitute Noah Okafor.
It was a night to remember for Chukwueze and AC Milan, as they advanced in style to the quarterfinals.
