Aston Villa Reach Agreement with Borussia Dortmund Over the Signing of Malen for €25m Plus €5m in Add-Ons

Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Donyell Malen.

Sky Sports Germany reported last year that Malen was unhappy at Borussia Dortmund and was seeking a new challenge.

Earlier this month, Aston Villa submitted a bid of £16m plus bonuses, which was rejected by the German side. Aston Villa then submitted a second bid of £18m plus add-ons, but it still wasn’t enough to complete the deal. The English side later improved their offer to £25m but were unable to strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund. Finally, Aston Villa submitted their final bid of €25m plus €5m in add-ons, including a €3m guaranteed fee, which was accepted by Borussia Dortmund.

Due to Dortmund’s agreement with the Claret and Blue, Malen will not travel to Kiel to face Holstein Kiel.

Malen will now travel to Birmingham with his representatives for the final stages before completing the deal.

Malen played 132 games for Die Schwarzgelben and helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League final.
