According to reports, Nigerian international Victor Boniface has broken up with his Norwegian girlfriend, Rikke Hermine, after four years together.
The primary reason for the breakup is reportedly a disagreement over a prenuptial agreement.
Hermine reportedly refused to marry the Nigerian footballer if a prenuptial agreement was involved, viewing the absence of such an agreement as a commitment of trust and bond.
Prenuptial agreements often serve as a safeguard for footballers, protecting their assets in case of divorce.
Many footballers have lost significant portions of their wealth following separations from their spouses. For instance, Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was reportedly forced to part with half of his properties after divorcing his wife.
The decision has sparked widespread discussion on social media. On X, reactions included:
@AHT_YssY: “Transaction Declined.”
@C_Roiginson: “A true African. He is learning a lot from Pep’s divorce situation.”
@briaSabi: “Not surprised. That’s what happens when you date and invest in women who don’t really like you. They’ll even have kids with you and live a fake life until they’re ready to divorce and take all your wealth. I hope more men, especially Black men, wake up! A man should provide, but be with a woman who honours you, respects you, and also has something going for herself—a woman who believes in marriage and long-term family goals, not one looking for a quick payout. This happens a lot.”
@kunleaderanti: “Finally, love is not blind.”
@OmoladeAdnan: “Football made his life better. He wants to enjoy his football money without any problem. Some women can misbehave later, so he wants to ensure that whatever happens, he doesn’t lose out. He knows how he started his life, what he went through, and where he wants to be after retirement.”
Victor Boniface, who is reportedly one of the highest-paid players at Bayer Leverkusen, earns an annual salary of around £2 million.
