Lens have accepted a £40 million offer plus add-ons from Manchester City for Uzbekistan star Abdukodir Khusanov.
Abdukodir Khusanov is set to become the first player from Uzbekistan to play in the Premier League. The 20-year-old is a ball-carrying defender known for his physicality. Khusanov joined Lens just a year and six months ago from Belarusian outfit Energetik-BGU for £100,000. The move has proven to be a great investment, as he has made 13 appearances for the French club and shown remarkable development.
Manchester City are currently dealing with an injury crisis, with several defensive players sidelined. This has significantly impacted their performances this season, particularly in the Premier League, where they have won only half of their games and conceded 27 goals.
City head coach Pep Guardiola is reportedly a big admirer of Khusanov and views him as a player who can bring calmness and stability to the team’s defense.
The young defender is set to sign a four-year contract with an option for an additional year. His medical examination and contract signing, which will finalize the deal, are expected to take place this week.
