The central storylines involve friends, family and itβs a movie that is unarguably about dance, that demonstrates how hard work, determination, persistence can pay off.
The Red Shoes: Next Step opens on a tragedy, as talented young dancer Sam Cavanaugh struggles to cope with the shock death of her beloved older sister, also a promising ballet dancer, in whose shadow she has been hiding.
Grief stricken and adrift, Sam gives up on dance and instead takes to partying with her childhood friend Eve from the wrong side of the tracks who encourages her to shoplift, which leads to a bout of court-appointed community service.
But instead of picking up rubbish off the street, Samβs parents pull a few strings and get their daughter to do her time cleaning toilets and mopping floors at her old ballet school The Harlow Academy.
Miss Harlow gave Sam an unexpected shot at redemption when the student earmarked for the lead role in The Red Shoes took ill.
Under the watchful, steely eye of the schoolβs icy founder Sam slowly, uncertainly makes her journey back to ballet with the help of handsome, supportive dancer Ben
There’s a certain warm about the movie in addition, the dancing itself makes it enjoyable to watch.
