The match was held in Akwa Ibom, with The People’s Elephants hoping to exact revenge after their 3-0 loss away to Black Bulls in December. Joseph Atule gave Enyimba the lead in the 6th minute, but the advantage only lasted six minutes as Ejaita Ifoni drew Black Bulls level.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele restored Enyimba’s lead in first-half stoppage time.
The second half saw Enyimba secure all three points as Nigerian legend Brown Ideye scored Enyimba’s third goal in just his second appearance for the club. Joseph Atule completed his brace in the 89th minute to seal a crucial victory on the continent.
The win sees Enyimba amass four points in the group but remain bottom of Group D due to goal difference.
