Nigerian International Gift Orban Joins TSG Hoffenheim on a 4-Year Contract

Nigerian international Gift Orban has joined TSG Hoffenheim on a 4-year contract. Orban joined the German side from Olympique Lyon for £9m + add-ons. He will be the 2nd Nigerian to play for the club this season, he joins international teammate Kevin Akpoguma.

Orban’s stint at Lyon was a disaster, as he struggled for regular game time. He played only 21 matches, scoring five times for the French side. This season, he has made just five appearances, with his last outing coming on September 22nd. Orban will hope to get his form back and take the Bundesliga by storm, which could lead to a national team call-up.

Hoffenheim Sporting Director Andreas Schicker praised Orban’s talent and expressed confidence in the Nigerian. “In Gift Orban, we have found exactly the fast striker with good depth that we were looking for. He has proven time and time again his goalscoring talent and his enjoyment of playing. We are therefore confident that he will bring our team greater offensive variability thanks to his abilities.”

Gift Orban also expressed his delight on X, stating, “New year, new adventures! Excited to be part of this wonderful club.”

Gift Orban could make his debut in the PreZero Arena in front of the Hoffenheim fans on January 6th.
