Raducanu advance to Australia Open third round for the first time in her career

British tennis player Emma Raducanu defeated Amanda Anisimova in the ongoing Australian Open. Raducanu put up a great fight to beat the American 6-3, 7-5. This victory marked the first time she reached the third round of the Australian Open in her career after four attempts.

The British number two expressed her joy at making it to the third round. She stated: “To make it past the second round means a lot to me. I thought I played really well in some big moments in that match. I had to fight hard and not go away even when the chips were down.

“I was able to push past some pain. When you haven’t played a match in so long, then to have two really physical ones, I think small niggles are going to come up here and there. I’m just hoping that it is that,” she added.

Raducanu also displayed why she is such a lovable personality off the court by consoling her friend Amanda Anisimova and posting a picture of the two of them on Instagram with the caption: “Not nice playing a friend, you are class.”

The world number 61 will face Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek, ranked second in the world, in the next round. Swiatek will be the most difficult test for Raducanu in this tournament, but she will look to prove her class to the world.
