Sadiq Umar scored his first goal for Valencia in their 2-0 victory over third-tier side Ourense in the Copa del Rey. His goal proved pivotal as the team advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition.
Valencia’s head coach, Carlos Corberán, praised the Nigerian forward’s performance and highlighted the importance of his contribution. “He’s shown he’s always close to the goal. He made a great individual move to score an important goal, and that will undoubtedly boost his confidence to net many more,” Corberán said.
“I am pleased with the minutes he played as they’ll help him grow as a player. Goals give forwards a confidence boost, which is important for them to continue helping the team.”
The coach further added: “I’ve seen a Sadiq full of desire to play, regain his form, and score goals. I also want to further fire his commitment to contributing to the game at all times.”
