The Nigeria Professional Football League is set to resume on January 25, 2025, following a mid-season break after the conclusion of the first round of fixtures.
During the break, the league management focused on improving its marketing strategies, which includes launching a new ball for the second round of matches. The break also provided an opportunity for sporting directors and stakeholders at various clubs to strengthen their squads, as the transfer window, opened on January 6, 2025, remains active until February 5, 2025.
Currently, Remo Stars lead the league standings with 36 points, followed closely by Rivers United with 34 points. Shooting Stars sit in third place with 33 points, while Enugu Rangers occupy fourth with 31 points.
Ikorodu City has been the surprise package of the season, the newly promoted side are sixth on the log with 28 points. A lot of NPFL fans expected them to be pushovers but they have proved their critics wrong by delivering exceptional performances on a weekly basis.
The second half of the season will kick off tomorrow at 2 PM, with Nasarawa United facing Katsina United. The round of fixtures will conclude on Sunday, January 26, 2025, when Plateau United welcome Rivers United to the Jos International Stadium.
