The Return of a Legend: David Moyes Returns to Everton After 12 Years

David Moyes has been appointed as Everton’s new manager, marking the Friedkin Group’s first managerial appointment since taking over the club.

Moyes is a familiar name to Everton fans, having managed the club from 2002 to 2013, spanning an 11-year period. During his first stint as Everton’s boss, he was on the touchline 518 times.

Moyes was ecstatic upon returning to Goodison Park. Speaking to the club’s media, he said:

“It’s great to be back. I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.”

He also affirmed his commitment to the Friedkin Group’s vision:

“I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group, and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club.”

Moyes spoke about the importance of moving into the new stadium as a Premier League side and told the fans to play their role:

“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season, so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”

Moyes is known for his 4-2-3-1 formation, he sets up his team with a compact defensive shape, enabling smooth transitions from defence to attack.

Moyes could be in the dugout for Everton’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Wednesday. He will aim to secure a win, as the club currently sits just one point above the relegation zone.
