West Ham Interested in Taiwo Awoniyi as Graham Potter Seeks Solutions to Goal-Scoring Woes

West Ham United have expressed interest in Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi. The Nottingham Forest striker has struggled for regular game time this season, starting only two Premier League matches under head coach Nuno Espírito Santo. Despite his limited opportunities, Awoniyi has demonstrated what he can do, often making an impact off the bench and contributing to Nottingham Forest’s success.

West Ham’s new manager, Graham Potter, is reportedly an admirer of Awoniyi, having monitored the player for some time. Potter sees the Nigerian as a potential solution to the Irons’ attacking issues. The club currently lacks center-forward, with Danny Ings as the only fit striker. Michail Antonio has been ruled out for the season, while Niclas Füllkrug is sidelined for the next three months.

West Ham have managed just seven wins in 21 league games this season, scoring a total of 27 goals.

Nottingham Forest may be reluctant to part ways with Awoniyi unless they can secure a replacement before the end of the transfer window. The club currently sits second in the Premier League table with 41 points, six behind leaders Liverpool.
