A MILLION MILES AWAY

‘A Million Miles Away’ chronicles the true life story of José M. Hernández played by Michael Peña journey from humble beginnings as a child migrant worker in California fields to the pinnacle of astronautic achievement.

Hernández became an astronaut after NASA had previously rejected him a dozen times. An aging electrical engineer, with few relevant NASA skills except for exceptional mathematical ability, shows how having a dream and relentlessly persisting to pursue it despite constant setbacks can result in the dream coming true.

We see the importance of family throughout the film as Rosa Salazar, portraying the steadfast Adela, provides firm support and loyalty, urging her husband to persist in the face of setbacks, having to care for five children and opening her own Mexican restaurant.

The movie as well highlight the role of an educator in Miss Young, Hernández’s elementary school teacher who sees his mathematical gifts and persuades his family prioritize his education over traveling from field to field so that Hernandez can stay in one place to get a decent education. This enabled Hernández to finish college even while continuing to work in the local fields and become an engineer.

‘A Million Miles Away’ will touch every human chord, determination, love of family and the belief that working hard and preparation will take you where you want to go while emphasizing that there are no short cuts to success.

The storyline is a breath taker, a solid message of inspiration that keeps you glued to the very end without wanting to take your eyes off even for a minute!
