Amanda Anisimova win first WTA 1000 trophy of career with Qatar Open Triumph

Amanda Anisimova defeated Jelena Ostapenko to claim the Qatar Open title, securing her first WTA 1000 trophy.

Anisimova became the lowest-ranked player to win the tournament and the first American since Monica Seles in 2002 to lift the title.

The American sealed victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win in Doha, marking her first title since 2022 and the biggest triumph of her career.

It was an emotional moment for Anisimova, who had stepped away from the sport last year to prioritize her mental health.

After the win, Anisimova told the press, “It feels amazing. It’s been such an incredible week here. I think every match has been very tough. I’m just super happy with my performances and my level here, and to be able to get my first 1000 title is really special to me.”

The 23-year-old, currently ranked world No. 41, is now on the verge of breaking into the top 20.
