German journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Bayern Munich is set to extend Dayot Upamecano’s contract until June 2030.
His current deal expires in 2026, but head coach Vincent Kompany really likes the French international and considers him a key part of his project.
Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Germany, posted on his official X handle:
”The negotiations between FC Bayern and Dayot Upamecano are well advanced.
The contract extension is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Understand a new top contract until 2030 is possible. The new duration has not been finalized yet. Final details still need to be clarified. It’s only a matter of days.”
Upamecano has played 30 matches this season and has formed an excellent partnership with Kim Min-jae.
He was named Man of the Match in Bayern’s UEFA Champions League knockout round playoff first leg against Celtic. He also delivered a solid performance in the return leg, which ended 1-1, helping Bayern progress 3-2 on aggregate.
