Dante Bonfim Costa Santos, popularly known as Dante, has signed a one-year contract extension with OGC Nice, keeping him at the club until June 2026.
Nice signed Dante from VfL Wolfsburg for a fee of €2.50 million in August 2023—a transfer that has been worth every penny, as he has represented the club with pride.
The Brazilian defender has played over 300 matches for the French side, placing him among the top ten players with the most appearances in the club’s history.
Le Gym announced the contract extension, stating: “At 41 years of age, the captain shows no signs of slowing down. He is as strong as ever, as important as he’s ever been, and still ambitious, for himself and the club.”
“And since there was never any question about his future, why not answer it immediately: Dante will play for Nice in the 2025–26 season.”
“It will be his 10th season wearing the most beautiful shirt in the world. The last chapter of the most magnificent story.”
Dante has helped Nice qualify for European competitions five times—four times for the UEFA Europa League and once for the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He also played a great role in Le Gym’s getting to the Coupe de France final in 2022, where they narrowly lost to Nantes.
