Former Vice President Abubakar Applauds Governor Adeleke For Going Ahead With LGA Election,   Encourages Osun Residents To Vote

The former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar in a post on Saturday morning has applauded the courage of the Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke for going ahead with the local government election in the state.

“I commend Governor Ademola Adeleke for going ahead with the exercise and urge security agencies and polling officials to perform their duties with the highest sense of responsibility to the public.”

Recall that the Nigeria Police Force on Friday in a press release had adviced the state government to suspend the election citing volatility and security threat

According to NPF: “The reports gathered from joint intelligence gathering reveal that various groups, including political elements and other interest parties, are mobilizing to instigate unrest, disrupt public peace, and undermine the democratic order.

“Given this imminent threat to security, the NPF strongly advises the Osun State Government to suspend the planned elections forthwith in the interest of public safety and national stability.”

However, the former V.P. urged the resident of Osun State to exercise their civic duty by voting for their grass root leader at the local government election.

Abubakar who called for a peaceful processes stated: “As residents in Osun State go out to the polls today to elect council chairpersons, I once again urge for a peaceful and hitch-free exercise.

“The local council election is the heartbeat of a democratic system, given that its outcome impacts closely on the lives of the citizens.”
