The prime minister of India Modi Narendra in a post on his verified X handle revealed that he met with owner of Space X, Telsa and very close buddy to the U.S. president, Elon Musk to discuss his country’s effort at reformation.
India’s P.M. post read: ““Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about such as space, mobility, technology and innovation. I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.’”
Recall that president Donald Trump on his first day in office had signed and set up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) championed by Musk which is tasked with slashing federal spending, finding ways to cut spending and regulations.
DOGE headed by billionaire Tesla CEO vowed to cut billions from the federal budget and usher in “mass headcount reductions across the federal bureaucracy.”
The webpage has a message describing it as “an official website” of the U.S. government. Over a black background below that, white lettering reads “Department of Government Efficiency” and “The people voted for major reform.”
The department has consistently been in the headlines for the major changes it is making to the federal government.
The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed to reporters that Musk had officially joined Trump’s administration as “special government employee.”
The designation allows Musk to work for the federal government with or without compensation for a limited amount of time. He also received a government email and an office.
