Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen, turns 40 today.
Tributes from across the globe have been pouring in to celebrate this milestone.
The football icon shows no signs of slowing down, delivering top performances on a weekly basis. He remains the undisputed highest goal scorer in football history, with 922 career goals.
Ronaldo has played for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, and is currently playing for Al-Nassr. He has captained Portugal’s national team since July 2008.
Over his illustrious career, he has won 33 major trophies. His personal accolades include five Ballon d’Or titles, 21 top scorer awards, one Puskás Award, and three FIFA The Best Men’s Player awards.
Manchester United, in collaboration with Al-Nassr, sent their birthday wishes via Instagram: “Happy birthday, @Cristiano!”
Real Madrid wrote: “Dear @Cristiano, from Real Madrid, we want to send you our warmest wishes on your 40th birthday. Every Madridista is proud of the legend you are and what you represent in our history. Have a great day with your family and loved ones.”
Juventus posted a picture of Ronaldo with the Serie A trophy, captioning it: “Buon 40° compleanno, @Cristiano!”
Sporting Lisbon shared: “O 40.º aniversário de uma lenda do futebol mundial. #MadeInSporting, the greatest Portuguese player of all time, and our 100,000th club member. 💚 Parabéns, @Cristiano! 🐐👑”
Sky Sports, the Premier League, LaLiga, the UEFA Champions League, and ESPN also sent their birthday wishes, celebrating one of football’s greatest ever players.
