The Storm continues; Manchester United gets battered for the 12th time in the Premier League after 1-0 loss against Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur completed a league double over Manchester United for the first time in nearly 35 years, securing a narrow 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

The defeat saw Manchester United drop to 15th place in the Premier League, just two points above 16th-placed West Ham and 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

Tottenham’s only goal came through James Maddison, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from United’s center-backs. Son Heung-min played a through ball to Lucas Bergvall, whose shot was saved by André Onana. However, the Cameroonian goalkeeper’s parry fell into Maddison’s path, and he reacted quickest, beating Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire to slot the ball home.

This latest setback means United have now lost 12 of their 25 Premier League matches this season. The last time they suffered such a dismal record was in the 1973-74 campaign—a season that ended in relegation.

After the match, Rúben Amorim pointed to missed chances as the key factor in the loss. He stated:

“It was the difference in the game—they scored, and we didn’t. We had opportunities, especially in transitions, but in the end, they took their chance, and we didn’t.”

Despite the team’s struggles, the United manager dismissed concerns about his job security, emphasizing his focus on improving results.

“The rest, I am not thinking about. I am here to help my players. I understand my situation, my job. I am confident in my work, and I just want to win games. The position in the table is my worry, but I am not worried about myself.”

Manchester United must secure all three points in their next Premier League fixture against Everton to avoid being dragged further into a relegation battle.
