Former Super Eagles manager José Peseiro has been appointed as the head coach of Egyptian side Zamalek.
Peseiro has been unemployed since stepping down from his role as Super Eagles boss in March 2024.
The club announced the appointment of the 64-year-old on their official X handle: “Zamalek signs Portuguese José Peseiro as the team’s new technical director. Let’s welcome our new coach! 👋”
The Portuguese tactician is tasked with helping Zamalek win the CAF Confederation Cup and the Egyptian top flight.
Zamalek is three points off the top spot in the league and has already secured a place in the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zamalek fans believe Peseiro’s appointment is the right one, given his track record. He recently led Nigeria to the AFCON final.
This is the 19th job of Peseiro’s career and his second in the Egyptian top flight, having previously managed Al Ahly in 2016.
