Former Atlético Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta is set to be appointed as Arsenal’s sporting director.
According to prominent Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Italian will sign the contract soon. He reported on his official X handle:
”Andrea Berta will sign his contract as new Arsenal director early next week.
He’s always been the top candidate and gave total priority to Arsenal despite several bids.
All documents are in place, deal set to be sealed as reported this week.”
Arsenal has been on the lookout for a new sporting director since Edu Gaspar left his role towards the end of 2024. The club believes Berta can work with Mikel Arteta to take the team to the next level.
He performed exceptionally well at Atlético Madrid and was responsible for the arrival of several big names, including Julián Álvarez, João Félix, Rodri, Thomas Lemar, and Antoine Griezmann.
