Barcelona First-Team Doctor Carles Miñarro García Dies At The Age Of 53

Barcelona has announced the passing of their first-team doctor, Carles Miñarro García. He worked with the club for seven seasons and was a beloved figure, known for his close relationship with the players.

Due to this tragic loss, the players were deeply affected and unable to play their La Liga match against Osasuna on Saturday, leading to the postponement of the fixture.

Barcelona released a statement regarding his passing:

“FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro García this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date.”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta paid tribute, saying:

“He was a man very much loved by everyone, who passed away this afternoon at the team hotel. There was an overwhelming sense of sadness because he was loved by all of us. He traveled to every match to take care of the players, the coaching staff—everyone. He never said no to anyone. He was a great professional and a great doctor. His passing has left us devastated and in shock because it was so sudden.”

Barcelona player Dani Olmo also paid tribute to Miñarro García on his official X handle:

“Hard to believe and accept everything that has happened… Carles, thank you so much for everything you’ve helped me with—not just this year, but throughout my entire career. You will be deeply missed, and your memory will always remain in our hearts and in my family’s. Rest in peace, Doc.”

Osasuna also expressed their condolences:

“Osasuna wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Carles Miñarro García and would like to send a warm hug to all the staff of FC Barcelona, as well as to its fans, at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”

Rival club Real Madrid showed class by sending their own tribute:
