Cerebral Palsy Ferdinand Makes Spectacular Chess Moves, Wins The Young Genius Award For An Outstanding Performance In U.S.

Tunde Onakoya, the convener of ‘Chess in the Slum Africa’ joyfully expressed emotion as one of his protégé Ferdinand, a cerebral Palsy child from a slum in Makoko won the ‘Young Genius Award for an Outstanding Performance’ in U.S.

Ferdinand is a young child mocked for his disability among his peers while in Makoko, however life smiled on him when he was discovered through chess.

He had travelled to the U.S. with some of his peers last week to compete in a game of chess.

Onakoya had posted of his pride about the intelligent chap on X stating: “Cerebral palsy. Mocked as an imbecile and bullied by other children in Makoko. Found Chess.

“Fought for his place in the world. Now he’s in America teaching USCF rated players’ lessons on the chess board. This is what dreams are made of.”

He went further to speak his IQ and the moves made in winning the game:“I almost lost my mind when Ferdinand found Qb6 in this position.

“This move in itself is not spectacular, it was the previous combination of 5 moves he had played out before this final one that blew my mind I missed the winning sequence.

“He saw it with 2 minute left on the clock.” The convener stated.

Ferdinand won the Young genius award for an outstanding performance.

 “The award was presented by American Actor and Walking Dead star- Khary Payton” Onakoya revealed
