Emma Raducanu Advances to the Last Eight of the Miami Open After Quarter-Final Win Over Amanda Anisimova

Emma Raducanu has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open after a 6-1, 6-3 win over Amanda Anisimova in the round of 16.

The victory marked her qualification for her first WTA 1,000 quarter-final and the first time she has won four straight WTA main-draw matches since her US Open triumph in 2021.

Raducanu told reporters after the match: “I felt like something was going on down the other side, and it’s really difficult to stay focused when your opponent is making errors and then all of a sudden just blasting the lines and winners. When things are, in a way, more normal, you know you have to be locked in every single point. I’m really proud of how I came through that. Playing Amanda again isn’t easy—she’s had some amazing wins, top 20, won a 1000 event this year, and she’s playing great tennis.

“It was important to keep the balance of being aggressive because if you just stay defensive the whole time, I got found out a couple of times. But I was happy with how I took that on board while still going for my shots. It’s difficult, but I’m really happy with how I’m moving on these courts and feeling pretty good.

“I’ve come a long way in the last week since Indian Wells. I wasn’t necessarily feeling great about my tennis, but this week I’ve got some really good people around me and have fun with them off the court—that’s extremely important. For me, being extremely expressive, when I play my best, I’m definitely authentic, true to myself, and creative.”

Raducanu will face Jessica Pegula in the last eight after the world No. 4 secured a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Marta Kostyuk.

Pegula will prove to be the toughest test for Raducanu. The American already has a WTA 250 trophy to her name this year, having won the ATX Open. She will be hoping to add a fourth WTA 1000 singles title to her achievements.
