French MEP Raphaël Glucksmann openly demanded that the United States return the Statue of Liberty, he claimed that America has lost its way and no longer stands for what the iconic sculpture represents.

The statue of Liberty was a gift originally from France in 1886, to celebrate American independence and shared democratic ideals

In his words: “We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants: ‘Give [it back.] We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home.”
