Iga Swiatek has progressed to the quarterfinal of the Miami Open after a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over Elina Svitolina.

The world number two stated after the win, “It was much tougher to problem-solve, especially because Elina was also putting on some pressure,” Swiatek said on court after her victory. “I needed to adjust, and I’m happy that I picked the right moments at the end to play more aggressively, and sometimes I was more patient.”

Swiatek will face 19-year-old tennis talent Alexandra Eala, who advanced after her Round of 16 opponent, Paula Badosa, withdrew before the match due to a lower back injury. It will be Eala’s first WTA 1000 quarterfinal.
