Jack Draper defeated Denmark’s Holger Rune to claim his first Masters 1000 title.
The Brit secured a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over world number 13 Rune. Following his Indian Wells triumph, Draper moved up to seventh place in the world rankings.
He became the fifth British man to win a Masters 1000 title, joining Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie, Tim Henman, and Greg Rusedski.
Reflecting on his victory, the 22-year-old told reporters:
“It’s incredible. I wasn’t expecting this. I put in a lot of work over time, and I feel like I deserve this, in all honesty. The amount of adversity I have been through, the amount of sacrifices, the amount of time all the people around me have put into me—to be here now and to say I will be seventh in the world, I cannot tell you how much that means to me.”
Draper earned approximately $1,201,125 from his Indian Wells title win.
