German journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that RB Leipzig has set an asking price of £80m if Xavi Simons decides to leave in the summer. His post on X reads:
*”RB Leipzig want €80m for #Xavi if he decides to leave this summer, as per @philipphinze24.
For Xavi, a departure is possible, but staying is not ruled out either.
Leipzig aim to make a significant profit after signing him from PSG for €50m plus add-ons last winter.”*
Simons first joined Leipzig on loan in the 2023/2024 season, where he amassed a total of 21 goal contributions. He returned in the summer before Leipzig made the deal permanent in January, signing him for £50m plus add-ons, taking the total fee to around £80m.
Transfermarkt reported on their official site that Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal were interested in him last year. It is unclear whether Simons will move away this summer, as his price tag might discourage clubs. However, no one can deny that Simons is one of the brightest talents in Europe.
