Lyon Head Coach Paulo Fonseca Handed Nine-Month Suspension

Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca has been handed a nine-month suspension following a confrontation with referee Benoît Millot, the French Professional Football League has confirmed.

The punishment comes as a result of Fonseca’s conduct during Lyon’s match against Brest last Sunday. The Portuguese coach reportedly confronted the referee and even attempted to headbutt him.

The suspension means Fonseca will be barred from entering the locker room before and after matches until September 15. Additionally, he will not be allowed on the touchline until November 30.
