Haaland Sidelined for Several Weeks Due to Ankle Injury

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland is expected to be out for five to seven weeks due to an ankle injury, Pep Guardiola has confirmed. He sustained the injury during Manchester City’s FA Cup quarterfinal win against Bournemouth, a match in which he scored. Haaland was substituted in the 61st minute after feeling discomfort in his left ankle.

Manchester City released an official statement regarding his injury, stating: β€œErling will consult a specialist to determine the severity of the injury. The hope is that he can return before the end of the season, including the UEFA Club World Cup.”

The Citizens will miss Haaland, who has been  their best player this season. He has played 40 matches under Pep Guardiola, scoring 30 goals.

Haaland is expected to return in the final stages of the season which would see him play the FIFA Club World Cup.
